wood
We buy, use, and throw away: our habits of consumerism is full on display in the streets.
As soon as we’re done with something, it ends up discarded on the sidewalk. Jeroen Arians seeks out wooden furniture abandoned on the street. He brings it to his studio, where he dissects and reshapes the pieces. Arians first takes the objects apart and then rearranges the individual components into a new composition. The traces of use take on a new form and meaning in the artworks, which ultimately find their way back onto the walls of collectors.
